Overthinkers Anonymous presents
The Mind Detox
A six-week online course to untangle your thinking,
upgrade your brain and change your life
Your invitation
Hi there,
As an overthinker, you have everything you need to do something amazing in the world. You're intellectually bright and emotionally smart. You work hard, you collaborate and you care.
What more could anyone ask for?
The problem is your life feels anything but amazing right now. Work feels relentless. Your weeks pass by in the stressful blur.
Your overthinking mind is turned up to the max.
On the outside you don't let it show too much. Most of the time, you're your usual friendly and professional self. But on the inside, it's a different story.
Your mind feels like it's on a plane experiencing endless turbulence. One minute, you're bouncing around worries about deadlines; the next you've hit a patch of self-critical thoughts.
You also endure storms of ruminating about whether you've said or done the right thing. And there's always the threatening rumble of imposter syndrome: it's only a matter of time before you get found out, right?
The turbulence hits hardest when you're trying to go to sleep.
In fact, you'd give anything to dial down the volume of your overthinking mind right then. You'd also love to discover what people seem to have naturally: a natural sense of okayness.
I get you. I've been there.
Seven years ago, I was in overthinking hell.
I was a high achieving, but chronically stressed advertising creative. To be honest, I was pretty much burned out.
Every day felt like a shitstorm. As soon as I turned on my laptop, I'd be hit with a deluge of emails and invitations to unnecessary 'catch up' meetings. In amongst all of this, I was expected to manage a team, keep difficult internal and external clients sweet, and come up with award-winning creative ideas.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not whining. I know this is par for the course for tons of corporate jobs, whether you're an ad creative or an accountant. And from the outside, I looked like I had it all under control. I was well-liked and respected around the agency. I won a ton of industry awards.
But on the inside, it definitely wasn't all sunshine and lollipops.
My anxiety levels were through the roof and the constant chatter of my inner critic kept me awake long into the night.
I was a perfectionist, which didn't help. I also worried about letting other people down. And I was always comparing myself to others. Even though I was successful, I experienced a lot of self-doubt. Does this resonate with you?
It got to the point where I was at the end of my tether. I had no choice but to leave.
This was the catalyst for the most interesting, challenging and rewarding chapter of my life so far.
With the help of a coach, I did some valuable inner work and figured out what was truly important to me. Crucially, I broke the cycle of overthinking, connected with my body, and allowed some fresh perspectives to emerge.
Today, I work as a leadership coach with a great mix of corporate clients, agencies and charities. I also created Overthinkers Anonymous and I've written a book, The Overthinker's Guide to Life.
Now, I'm bringing together the most useful insights and practices I've learned into a powerful, six-week online course.
I'm here to help you detox your thinking, so you can find freedom from your inner critic.
I'm here to help you upgrade your amazing brain, so you're more likely to use its power effectively, and less likely to use it against yourself.
I want you to discover the inner calm and confidence to make an authentic contribution, without burning out. I think this is sorely needed in these uncertain and turbulent times.
Do you have a tendency to overthink things?
Would you love to come home to yourself and feel a natural sense of okayness?
Would you value having me as your guide?
If so, I'd love to welcome you onto this unique online programme.
Very best,
Andrew
"I started working with Andrew when the self-critical voice in my head suddenly found a megaphone.
Andrew made me realise that these thoughts were just that, thoughts, and gave me the tools to understand them. I'm without doubt more confident in my job and life, which I put down to working with Andrew."Kenny Fox, Research Director at davies & mckerr
How The Mind Detox works
This six-week course is designed to fit into your busy life. Simply turn up for one, 90-minute group coaching call over Zoom every week for six weeks. Each session will deliver concise, powerful insights that change you how see things and help you find more calm, clarity and confidence. If you miss a session, you'll receive a replay video recording.
My intention is to keep this group-size fairly small, so you’ll also have the chance to share what’s going on for you (if you want to) and connect with like-minded people. This is designed to feel like an island of sanctuary in a busy week, as well as a place where you learn fresh insights and techniques.
In between sessions, you’ll have ‘playwork’ – something to experiment with that could really make a difference to your state of mind. All of these practices will be things you can integrate into your normal day. You won’t need to find an extra hour to do a meditation, or spend your Sunday night doing homework (unless you want to do either of things, of course!) As I said, it’s designed to deliver maximum benefit for the minimum time commitment.
"Andrew provided invaluable support to my overthinking mind, as I navigated a recent career transition and
landed in a new role.
I always leave the sessions with a renewed sense of calm and connection to my instincts. I would recommend to anyone who could benefit from a regular break from a busy head, in a relaxed, grounded and entirely non-judgemental space."
Emily Larkin, Head of Employer Brand at the BBC
What makes The Mind Detox unique
I've integrated ideas and techniques from psychology, coaching, therapy, neuroscience and ancient wisdom traditions like Buddhism to create a fresh approach to mindset and behaviour change. It's not about positive thinking or trying to stop thinking altogether, as obviously that's not possible. Instead, it's designed to open your mind to insight, 'aha' moments that transform the way you see your mind and the world. You'll come away with a better relationship to your thinking, more clarity about your mind's full potential, and clear sense of how to continue evolving as a person.
Here's a summary of what you can expect from each session, from weeks one to six:
1Curiosity: Change the way you think about thinking
